Hardwood Flooring

Hardwood Flooring by BruceInstalling and refinishing hardwood flooring is one of our specialties and we will gladly tailor each floor installation to fit your specific wants and needs. We can easily install new flooring or sand, refinish, and repair your old hardwood flooring.

Hardwood flooring usually comes in three unique varieties: parquet, strip, and plank. Strip flooring comes in 1.5 to 5.25 inch segments. Plank flooring strips are wider usually wider in size. Parquet flooring is composed of individual squares arranged in a geometric pattern.

Unfinished and Factory Finished Wood Flooring
All wood flooring requires a finish – a protective coat that seals your floor against every day wear.

You can buy unfinished wood flooring, and our installer will sand the wood and apply the finish on the job site. There are several finish options available. If you are looking for a specific color or need to match existing flooring, this option may suit your needs better.

Also available for purchase is factory-finished wood flooring, where the finish was applied at the manufacturer. This type of flooring has become as widely available as unfinished wood flooring. These floors require less time to install because the sanding and finishing process has already happened. The floors are ready to walk on immediately following the installation.

Solid and Engineered Wood Flooring
Solid wood flooring is exactly what the name implies: a solid piece of wood from top to bottom. Solid wood is milled from a single 3/4″ thick piece of hardwood. Due to its thickness, a solid hardwood floor can be sanded and refinished

many times over several generations of use. solid wood flooring can expand, and contract as a result of changes in a home’s relative humidity level. Normally, our installers compensate for this movement by leaving an expansion gap between the floor and the wall. We use matching color or white Shoe molding or quarter round to cover up and shield any openings around the wall/baseboard.
Engineered Wood Flooring consists of multiple thin ply layers that are glued together is the basic idea of how an engineered floor is constructed. Generally, the inner foundation of the engineered hardwood floor can be either a plywood (soft) form of material and/or hardwood. This ultimately

embodies the tongue and groove. When choosing a true-engineered hardwood floor keep in mind that the veneer wear layer is actually glued on the top surface of the base and is typically available in almost any hardwood flooring species.
